Job Description:
The Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care of patients. The staff RN utilizes the nursing process by use of technology, therapeutic intervention, evidence-based practice and coordination of care with other health team members. Job Summary:
As a Mom/Baby Postpartum Registered Nurse at Lutheran Medical Center, you will provide specialized care for new mothers and their newborns following delivery. Your responsibilities will include monitoring vital signs, assisting with breastfeeding, educating parents on newborn care, managing pain, and offering emotional support during the postpartum period. Your role will be critical in ensuring both mother and baby are recovering well and prepared for safe discharge from the hospital. You will collaborate with the healthcare team to assess, plan, and implement individualized care while maintaining a compassionate and patient-centered approach.

As a Mom/Baby Postpartum Registered Nurse, you will:
• Provide Direct Care: Monitor and assess the health and well-being of mothers and newborns, ensuring recovery post-delivery and preparing both for discharge.
• Breastfeeding Support & Education: Offer guidance on breastfeeding techniques and newborn care to help new parents feel confident.
• Pain Management: Assist in managing pain through appropriate interventions and support.
• Emotional Support: Provide emotional support to new mothers, addressing any concerns or anxieties during the postpartum period.
• Collaboration: Work alongside physicians, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care for mother and baby.
• Supervision: Oversee the care provided by LPNs and CNAs, ensuring quality and safe care is being delivered.
• Compliance & Documentation: Adhere to hospital, regulatory, and professional guidelines, ensuring all documentation is accurate and up to date.
• Patient and Family Education: Offer clear and compassionate education to families, helping them navigate the transition to life at home with their newborn. Position Details:
• Scheduled Weekly Hours: Full-time, 36 hours per week.
• Shift: Nights (7pm-7am).
• Location: Lutheran Medical Center, Wheat Ridge, CO. Minimum Qualifications:
• At least 1 year of acute inpatient
• Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing.
• Current Registered Nurse license in the state of practice (compact license must be transferred within 90 days of employment).
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers. Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in Mom/Baby Postpartum unit, but willing to train
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution.
Physical Requirements:
Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.- and -Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.- and -Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.- and -Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.- and -Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc).- and -May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.
