Job Description:

The Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care of patients. The staff RN utilizes the nursing process by use of technology, therapeutic intervention, evidence-based practice and coordination of care with other health team members.

Unit Information:

Intermountain Medical Center Labor & Delivery delivers approximately 3,700 babies a year, ranging from uncomplicated to medically complex. We offer 18 labor rooms, 3 operating rooms, and 3 triage rooms. At the Medical Center, we deliver babies from the earliest gestation to post dates. The services our unit offers include vaginal deliveries, Cesarean Sections, TOLAC/VBAC, cerclage, intra-uterine transfusion, Tubal Ligation, and Bereavement care. Our patient ratios are typically 1-1.5 pts per nurse, depending on patient complexity and where the patient is in the labor process. Labor and Delivery nurses work closely with Anesthesia, resident's and Attending physicians to discuss and implement the best plan of care for each patient. We routinely collaborate with the NICU and Maternity units as well, to ensure our patient population receives excellent care during their stay at IMED. Labor and Delivery is a very special place, where your patient will never forget you, or the experience they had.

Shift Details: full time, 36 hours a week, 50/50 or straight nights after orientation. Self scheduling every 8 weeks.

Minimum Qualifications

Current RN License in state of practice.

Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.
- and -
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Preferred Qualifications

One or more years of RN work experience highly preferred (if you are newly graduated from RN program or a RN with less than one year of RN work experience, please apply on new grad position for this same department.

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN). Education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Degree will be verified.

Physical Requirements:

Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
- and -
Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
- and -
Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.
- and -
Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
- and -
Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc).

May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.
