Job SummaryProvides quality patient care in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), assessing and addressing the clinical, teaching, and emotional needs of post-surgical patients.
Ensures patient safety, coordinates care with the healthcare team, and maintains a safe and aseptic environment.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver comprehensive patient care in the PACU, assessing patient needs and responding with appropriate interventions.
- Recognize and address patient safety issues, including implementing lift procedures for safe patient movement.
- Exhibit strong leadership by prioritizing and delegating tasks; may serve as charge nurse when required.
- Utilize clinical equipment proficiently in an OR/ASU setting, ensuring safety and asepsis.
- Interpret and respond to lethal dysrhythmias and other urgent patient conditions.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members, both verbally and in writing.
Required Qualifications- Valid RN License in New York State.
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
- COVID-19 and Flu vaccinations.
- Previous PACU experience.
- Minimum one year of medical/surgical experience.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications- Preceptorship, charge nurse, or leadership experience.
- Proficiency in interpreting lethal dysrhythmias.
- Knowledge of clinical equipment and instruments specific to OR/ASU settings.
Certifications- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
