Job Summary:The Registered Nurse in the Psychiatric Unit is responsible for providing comprehensive patient care through the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The RN administers medications, monitors patient responses, and directs patient care, ensuring the highest professional nursing standards are upheld. This role also involves guiding ancillary personnel and fostering excellent customer service while adhering to hospital policies.
Key Responsibilities:- Patient Care: Utilize the nursing process to provide thorough and compassionate care to psychiatric patients, maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records.
- Medication Administration: Administer prescribed medications and monitor patient responses to ensure safety and effectiveness.
- Nursing Leadership: Serve as charge nurse when required, providing leadership and guidance in patient care and staff training.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed patient assessments, addressing physical, psychological, and social aspects of care, as well as coordinating discharge planning.
- Staff Participation: Participate actively in unit staff meetings, mandatory programs, and maintain annual professional development requirements.
- Quality Improvement: Contribute to identifying patient care areas for improvement and monitoring quality indicators to ensure high standards of care.
- Safety & Compliance: Adhere to hospital safety protocols, blood/body fluid policies, and procedures to maintain a safe environment for both patients and staff.
- Patient-Centered Care: Consistently demonstrate service excellence, reflecting the hospital's values of compassion, respect, and professionalism in every aspect of care.
Required Qualifications:- Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
- Licensure: Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN).
- Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required.
- Experience: Previous psychiatric nursing experience is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:- Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Experience: Psychiatric nursing experience is preferred.
Certifications:- Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
