UC San Diego Health has held its Magnet status since 2011. Total patient care for the Emergency Department Observation and Inpatient involves three levels of care: IMU, Telemetry, and Med Surg. The RN must be qualified to care for the highest level of care, IMU, and have special training in critical care, oncology concepts, surgery and medicine. Nurses hired into this area will have the opportunity to apply to the New to Emergency Room Transition to Practice program after one year. While not required, a cover letter is highly recommended when applying to this position. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Must be a graduate from an accredited school of Nursing. Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the State of California. BLS/CPR and ACLS certifications at time of hire with commitment to get ART within six (6) months of hire date. Minimum one (1) year of recent acute care RN experience at the Telemetry level of care or higher acuity. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Must be able to work within a busy team environment. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS BSN/MSN. Recent acute care IMU/CDU, Observation, or ED Inpatient (EDIP) experience. SPECIAL CONDITIONS Must be able to work various hours, days, shifts, on-call and locations based on the 24-hour Medical Center's business needs. Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical. Selected candidates may be hired at the CNIII/IV level pending review and approval by the Nurse Executive Council. Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $123,902 - $173,659 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%) Hourly Equivalent: $59.34 - $83.17 Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
