Fall River Health Services is looking for a Registered Nurse in Hot Springs SD for Acute Care. This nursing position is responsible for the delivery of general nursing care utilizing the nursing process either directly or through appropriate delegation of duties to supervised staff members.

Schedule: Schedule varies/12 hour Shifts

Responsibilities:

Assessing, planning, intervention, and evaluation of nursing services provided directly or indirectly through appropriate delegation.
Assesses the patient's need for care and initiates the nursing care plan involving the patient, family, and others as indicated. Realistic patient goals are established, teaching needs identified and discharge concerns addressed. Interventions are reviewed for effectiveness and revised as necessary to attain goals. Nurse's notes reflect implementation of the care plan.
Participate in the direct care and administration of prescribed medications and treatments including administration of fluid and respiratory therapy treatments.
This position demonstrates the ability to perform technical skills and utilize equipment within areas of assignment. Infection control policies and procedures are applied and enforced.
Organize time, effort and energy in rendering patient care; exercising judgment in establishing priorities.
Recognize and interpret symptoms, reports patient's condition, assists with or institutes remedial measures for adverse development. Significant information is accurately communicated to physicians and other health team members. Appropriate action is taken in stressful, unusual or emergency situations.
Initiates patient teaching by assessing patient and family knowledge of disease and establishing realistic objectives. Appropriate instructional activity is initiated and evaluated. Patients, families and others are taught at level of understanding
Assists with orientation and continued learning of new staff members. Professional and clinical competence is maintained through active participation in various continuing education programs. New knowledge and skill is applied and shared. Assumes responsibility when assigned as the nurse in charge; promoting a positive attitude and productivity among staff while solving problems effectively.
Provide safe, effective nursing care as ordered by the provider, utilizing the nursing process and in conformance with recognized nursing techniques, policies, procedures, standards and in accordance with the South Dakota Nurse Practice Act.
Accurately observes, reports and records observations of patient's condition.
Administer medications and treatments as ordered.
Teach patients and families how to administer medications and treatments and the importance of continuing prescribed medications and treatments.
Coordinate shift activities of the assigned staff to ensure continuity of nursing service, combining quality improvement with cost containment.
Provide necessary leadership and support to staff to ensure they can perform their work.
Maintain good interpersonal relationships and assure confidentiality to preserve the integrity of the nursing staff.
Follow safety and infection control policy and procedure to ensure a safe and clean environment.
This role may include other responsibilities and duties as assigned, based on facility needs or requirements.

The average compensation for this position is $34.00- $38.00 an hour depending on the experience

Education:

Must currently hold an active unencumbered license within the State of South Dakota
