Job Description
The Registered Nurse performs assessments on incoming patients to programs. The RN for Cardiac Rehab manages individualized, goal directed nursing care through use of the nursing and rehabilitation process and the principles of primary nursing in accordance with departmental and hospital policies and procedures. The RN also assists with patients exercise therapy program and equipment and education involving risk factor reduction for Cardiac and Pulmonary patients.
Responsibilities
• Assesses patient medical history and updates telemetry system with patients data.
• Develops, discusses, and communicates a realistic problem list (plan of care) for each patient, in collaboration with each patient/family/significant other in order to address all identified needs.
• Demonstrates the skills and judgment necessary to implement medical plan of care, nursing interventions, and procedures as necessary for the care of the patient.
• Evaluates the patients exercise session and patient's responses to exercise to ensure normal responses to exercise and responds to abnormal responses appropriately.
• Communicates to physicians and appropriately documents patients progress and events during treatment.
• Performs all responsibilities/duties required by the cardiac rehabilitation center as defined in the scope of service, to ensure that the unique nature of the client is addressed.
• Maintains current knowledge/certification/licensure. Pursues professional growth and development.
• Assist in other duties as assigned to support the operational needs of the department and organization.
• May be required to remain on campus immediately before, during, and after severe weather and/or disasters.
Qualifications
Minimum Education
• Technical Diploma/Certificate Nursing Required or
• Associates Degree Nursing Required
• Bachelor's Degree Nursing Preferred
Minimum Work Experience
• 1-3 years Critical Care or other heart related nursing care experience Required
Licenses and Certifications
• Registered Nurse Licensed State of Florida or eligible compact state Upon Hire Required
• BLS for Healthcare Providers (BLS) American Heart Association Upon Hire Required
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
• Demonstrated proficiency in acute care nursing, knowledge, and skills.
• Prefer demonstrated ability to teach self-healthcare principles.
