Job Description:Part Time, 24 hours weekly
The Lactation Consultant/Educator is responsible for evaluating and meeting the learning needs of patients and their families (i.e. infant care, breastfeeding), accepts referrals from physicians in areas listed, and provides extensive community education
Essential Duties:
- Assesses and facilitates parent/infant bonding
- Provides follow-up lactation consultation by phone or appointment as needed
- Provides breastfeeding in-services
- Assists with breastfeeding policies and procedures
- Performs comprehensive maternal, child, and feeding assessments related to breastfeeding and human lactation
- Assists families with developing and implementing individualized feeding plans in consultation with the client coordinates continuity of care with Mother/Baby personnel
Requirements:
- Current licensure recognized by the Kentucky State Board of Nursing
- BSN and/or IBCLC preferred
- 2 years of job-related experience required
