Position Purpose: The Registered Nurse is responsible for educating, assisting, and interacting with patients in an outpatient clinic setting with regards to health promotion and wellness. Key Functions and Responsibilities The Operating RN will be able to circulate and scrub on a variety of surgical procedures including general, cardiothoracic, vascular, endovascular, ear/nose/throat, and robotic. Professional nurse with specialized knowledge and demonstrates advanced beginner skills when providing and directing care for patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD), acute kidney injury (AKI), and late-stage chronic kidney disease (CKD). Collaborates with other disciplines/departments to achieve desired patient outcomes. Functions as primary nurse for ESRD patient panel and serves as key resource assisting patients navigate the healthcare system. Completes documentation for all clinical and technical recordkeeping in the electronic health record and treatment flowsheets in accordance with established policies and procedures. Monitors, tracks/trends, and reports ongoing care continuity needs and outcomes to the interdisciplinary team. The nurse will assist in directing the provision of nursing education, orientation, competencies and providing quality improvement and outcomes utilization. Practice includes directing other providers. Partners with the patient, family, and interdisciplinary team to promote effective and safe transitions across the health care continuum. This nurse has fundamental experience with the situations in which they are ultimately expected to perform, integrating theoretical concepts, basic critical thinking skills, and technically skilled practice. Plans and delivers technically competent care to patients in alignment with the ANA Standards of Nursing Practice. Responsible and accountable for individual nursing practice and determines the appropriate delegation of tasks ensuring assigned delegated tasks are completed by team members. Manages nursing care of patients, organizes, and completes own assignments in a safe and timely manner, assisting team members as necessary. Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of interdisciplinary care. Establishes a therapeutic relationship, allowing the patient to achieve optimal function through assessment and treatment of their health enhancing the patient experience, satisfaction, and/or safety. Treats all patients, families and other caregivers with dignity and respect incorporating knowledge, values, and beliefs into nursing care delivery without judgement or discrimination. Recognizes ethical issues related to professional nursing practice and behaves in an appropriate manner through observance of established policies and ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses. Applies high reliability principles and I CARE values to improve patient outcomes. Qualifications Required Education and Licensing Current unrestricted license BLS and ACLS (American Heart Association approved) Required Knowledge and Experience Minimum of three years recent experience providing hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis High-level of reliability and dependability. A valid driver's license is required. Working Conditions and Environment This position is on-site in a medical facility. Driving may be required. Physical Requirements The position requires repetitive motion, such as standing, walking, sitting and bending. Light lifting, up to 20 pounds, may be required.
