Job Description: Registered Nurse (RN) Labor & Delivery (L&D)

The Registered Nurse is responsible for evaluating patients and assisting physicians with patient care.
  • Plans, implements, and documents nursing care based on patient's needs.
  • Identifies patient needs and determines priorities for care through assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
  • Develops, implements and coordinates individualized plan of care for patients assigned through initial and on-going assessments.
  • Initiates assessment based on the patient's problems or needs, the physician's medical diagnosis, and the functional health framework.
  • Performs therapeutic nursing interventions.
  • Manages care of patients.
  • Documents care based on standards of care and practice, patient acuity, and/or clinical priorities.
  • Advocates for evidence-based practice care standards and supports adoption of evidence-based practices and innovations in care delivery.
  • Provides patient centric care in alignment with professional nursing practice model.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Education Requirement: ASN.

Preferred Education: BSN Preferred.

Required Certifications & Licensure: BLS-aha, ACLS-aha, and NRP Certifications all- Required.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • 1+ year of experience in related specialty.
  • Mother/Baby and or Nursery Experience- Preferred.
  • Min 1-2 years of recent L&D experience Required.
Schedule Notes: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM
  • 13 Week assignment
  • Every Other Weekend Required.
  • Holidays- At least one per season.
  • No on Call.
  • This is a LDPR (Labor/Delivery, Postpartum Recovery) Unit- both mother/baby and L&D on the same unit Patient Ratio: Varies everyday based on type of patients caring for. - Mother/Baby- 1:3-4 - Labor Patient- 1:2
  • Must be highly reliable and be available to work all days other then those that were pre-disclosed prior to offer.
