Kidney Specialists of Southern Nevada (KSOSN) provides comprehensive kidney care and a full spectrum of kidney disease management resources for residents of Southern Nevada. Our care team educates and empowers patients who are living with kidney pain, infections, stones, and other kidney problems. With this exciting opportunity you will be joining a seasoned team of 50 Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, and Physicians Assistants, as well as 60+ team members across eight locations. We are looking for a dynamic Registered Nurse to join our growing Ambulatory Surgical Center Team. Surgical Center hours are Mon to Sat 7:30 am to 4:30 pm. We specifically need dialysis, critical care or medical/surgical experience. Candidates with hospice, home health and LTACH experience cannot be considered.
Position Summary
Position gathers pre-treatment patient data, monitors patient and medications during procedures, maintains prescription drug logs and provides assistance to the clinical team during pre and post procedure activities.
Essential Job Functions:
1. Provides ongoing patient information to the interventionist and clinical team during procedures to deliver vascular access care to the patient including but not limited to cardiac monitoring, aldrete score, pain status; monitor patient vitals (HR, BP, O2Sat, EKG) during procedures.
2. Provides instant medical care in emergencies.
3. Maintains clear and accurate patient records and documents according to standards.
4. Maintains professional and effective working relationships with all members of the Health Care Team.
5. Conducts chart audits.
6. Assists in scheduling patients for vascular access procedures; makes pre-operative calls to patients prior to procedure to assure readiness for the procedure; makes post-operative phone calls to patients within 48-72 hours.
7. Performs patient care transfers by understanding each patient's specific needs while
simultaneously adhering to evidence-based guidelines.
8. Assists in recovery room patient care following vascular access procedures.
9. Gathers patient clinical information prior to procedures including patient assessments and patient history.
10. Maintains up-to-date narcotic drug log.
11. Monitors and maintains adequate inventory of medical supplies in conjunction with the designated Materials Manager; orders medication including narcotics and maintains an appropriate inventory; maintains drug counts and coordinates with the pharmacist
12. Responsible for Infection Control duties such as Glo Germ Quarterly checks, Hand Hygiene Score Cards, Infection Control Checklist/Tracers, Infection Control Risk Assessment.
13. Performs mock codes/emergency drills.
14. Assists Director of Nursing (DON) on coordinating daily work of clinical team and ensures appropriate scheduling.
15. Completes trainings and clinical competency assessments annually.
16. Communicates with dialysis facilities to monitor post-care.
17. Participates in access center community education programs.
18. Supports the mission, philosophy, and goals of KSOSN.
19. Works cooperatively as a member of a team in all assignments.
20. Participates in Clinical Quality Improvement activities to provide better care for patients and improve costs.
21. Practices proper use of personal protective equipment (e.g., gloves, masks, gowns), aseptic technique, hand hygiene, and environmental infection control measures.
22. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
1. Must receive influenza vaccine annually.
2. Minimum two (2) years' RN experience preferably in dialysis, critical care, medical/surgical or ambulatory surgery required.
3. Associate or bachelor's degree in nursing required.
4. Current Nevada RN license required.
5. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
6. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
7. Conscious sedation certification required by date of hire.
8. Must possess working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook.
