Job SummaryThe Registered Nurse - Step Down is responsible for providing high-quality patient care in a step-down unit, with a focus on patients requiring cardiac monitoring and specialized care. This role demands proficiency in managing drips and vents, closely monitoring vital signs, and responding to patients in cardiac distress. The nurse will also maintain accurate patient records and collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Proficient in managing drips and ventilators (Vents) to provide critical care.
- Record and monitor vital signs, including oxygen levels, blood pressure, and breathing patterns.
- Regularly assess and track patient progress, updating medical records as necessary.
- Respond promptly and effectively to patients experiencing cardiac pain or other urgent conditions.
- Provide education and support to patients and families regarding treatment plans and recovery.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
Required Qualifications- Graduate from an accredited program of professional nursing required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Current RN TX License required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications.
- Minimum of 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience required.
- Strong knowledge of cardiac monitoring and care techniques.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience in a Step Down or ICU setting.
- Additional certifications in related specialties, e.g., Critical Care Nursing .
