Starting Wage:
- RN I $37.77 /hr
- RN II $42.81 + /hr, depending on experience
RN III $44.94 + /hr, depending on experience
Internal Hires: Pay rate will be determined based on applicable personnel rule or union contract terms.

Job Summary:
The Mental Health Nurse is responsible for providing compassionate, patient-centered care to individuals experiencing mental health challenges. This role involves conducting comprehensive assessments, developing and implementing individualized care plans with your team, administering medications and treatments, and offering therapeutic support to patients. The Mental Health Nurse works collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including psychiatrists, therapists, social workers and behavioral health assistants to ensure the delivery of holistic and effective care.
Key responsibilities include monitoring patient progress, responding to crisis, maintaining accurate documentation, and fostering a safe and supportive environment that promotes recovery and well-being. This position requires excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to improving mental health outcomes.
Minimum Qualifications for the Job:
RN I
- License(s): Current State of Alaska Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Certification(s): Reference Mandatory Education for Clinical and Support Staff Policy for most current Certification requirements.
- Experience(s): New graduate RNs or RNs with less than one (1) year current acute care or comparable experience, or RN with no nursing experience in the past five (5) years. New graduates will remain at the RN I level for a minimum of six (6) months after the completion of their preceptee program and must promote to an RN II within 18 months of hire.
RN II:
- License(s): Current State of Alaska Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Certification(s): Reference Mandatory Education for Clinical and Support Staff Policy for most current Certification requirements.
- Experience(s): Advancement from an RN I or at least one (1) year, continuous experience in a comparable patient care setting. RNs must remain at this level for a minimum of one year before applying for advancement.
RN III:
- License(s): Current State of Alaska Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Certification(s): Reference Mandatory Education for Clinical and Support Staff Policy for most current Certification requirements.
- Experience: Three (3) years of current clinical experience. ( Current indicates experience within the last five years from time of application) or, One (1) year of experience as a Bartlett RN II.

Originally known as St. Ann s Hospital, the hospital opened in 1886 and was operated by the Sisters of St. Ann until the 1960s. In 1965, the hospital s operations were turned over to the City and Borough of Juneau, and a new facility was built at the hospital s present location on Hospital Drive.
Bartlett Regional Hospital is licensed for a total of 57 inpatient beds and 16 residential substance-abuse treatment facility beds in the Rainforest Recovery Center. The hospital serves a 15,000-square-mile region in the northern part of Southeast Alaska. Approximately 55,000 people reside in our service area, with most communities inaccessible by road.
