Job Description
Join our 32-bed Hematology Oncology Unit , where you ll care for a diverse patient population in a fast-paced environment. This position is a great opportunity for experienced RNs looking to gain hands-on CHEMO administration training under manager guidance. EPIC charting experience is required.
Unit Details:
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratios: 1:5, up to 1:6 for lower-acuity patients (adjusted for higher-acuity patients).
- Common Patient Diagnoses: Hematology/Oncology, CHEMO patients.
- Required Skills: Must be comfortable with lines, chest tubes, and handling high-acuity patients.
Mandatory Certifications & Licenses:
- Registered Nurse License for the state of Mississippi.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Required.
Preferred Experience:
- At least 1 year of solid RN experience in a Level 1 Trauma Center or a large hospital.
- Travel experience with extensions is highly preferred.
- Prior experience in Hem/Onc and CHEMO administration is an asset.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage care for Hematology/Oncology patients, including CHEMO administration (training provided).
- Administer drips such as Heparin and occasionally initiate Amiodarone before patient transfer.
- Collaborate with Central Monitoring for telemetry patients and interpret strips as needed.
- Float to other Med-Surg units based on skillset when required.
Schedule & Work Environment:
- Shift Details: 12-hour shifts .
- Holiday Requirements: Must work at least 3 of the following 6 holidays: Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Christmas Eve, Christmas, New Year s Eve, New Year s Day.
- Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend or 2 weekends per month (standard).
- Floating: Within skillset across all Med-Surg units. Higher-acuity patients assigned to core staff.
- Dress Code: Solid, professional scrubs in any color.
Orientation:
- Day 1: Paperwork, attestations, logins, and unit tour (a few hours).
- 2 additional shifts with a preceptor for unit-specific onboarding.

- No On-Call Requirement.
