Description

Position Overview: We're in search of an exceptionally talented and seasoned Clinical Nurse Specialist to become part of our team at DMHA, a 25-bed critical access hospital dedicated to delivering outstanding healthcare services to our community. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in our emergency room, spearheading quality initiatives, overseeing expert quality assurance programs, delivering evidence-based practice clinical care, leading educational efforts, and nurturing a culture of excellence within our nursing team.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Clinical Practice:
    • Leads nursing care of emergency room patients.
    • Provides tailored training sessions and workshops focused on evidence-based practices, complex patient scenarios, and the latest advancements in emergency care. Through interactive case discussions, hands-on simulations, and ongoing mentorship, the CNS empowers nurses to sharpen their critical thinking skills, improve clinical decision-making, and effectively manage diverse patient populations.
    • The CNS serves as subject matter expert, offering guidance on complex patient cases and facilitating interdisciplinary collaboration to ensure holistic and patient-centered care in the fast-paced ER environment.
    • Ensure adherence to evidence-based practice guidelines, protocols, and quality standards in patient care delivery.
    • Serves as a resource and mentor for nursing staff, offering guidance and support in complex patient care situations.
  2. Quality Assurance and Improvement:
    • Lead quality assurance initiatives in the emergency room, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, best practices, and organizational policies.
    • Aligns emergency services with Federal, State, and local regulatory compliance.
    • Develops Policy and Procedures
    • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to establish quality metrics, monitor performance indicators, and identify areas for improvement.
    • Implement evidence-based practices and quality improvement measures to enhance the overall quality of care provided to patients.
  3. Education and Training:
    • Develop and implement educational programs and initiatives for nursing staff working in the emergency room and intensive care units.
    • Conduct regular training sessions, workshops, and simulations to enhance clinical competency and promote best practices in emergency and critical care nursing.
    • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to design and deliver educational content aligned with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.
  4. Staff Development:
    • Assess learning needs and competency levels of nursing staff, identifying areas for skill enhancement and professional development.
    • Provide one-on-one coaching, feedback, and performance evaluations to support the growth and advancement of nursing personnel.
    • Facilitate orientation programs for new hires and ongoing education for existing staff members.
  5. Bedside Staffing:
    • Primary care nursing is a fundamental expectation in Critical Access Hospitals. This role will involve staffing all areas of the hospital.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Master's degree in nursing, Clinical Nurse Specialist, Nurse Educator, or a related field (preferred).
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Montana.
  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in emergency nursing and intensive care settings.
  • Demonstrated expertise in quality assurance, emergency nursing practice, including triage, resuscitation, and trauma management.
  • Proven experience in nursing education, curriculum development, and program implementation.
  • Strong understanding of quality assurance principles, regulatory requirements, and accreditation standards.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work schedules.

Required Skills
