Job Summary

The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a Registered Nurse, Assistant Director in Student Health Services. This is a full-time, benefitted Registered Nurse position to serve as the Assistant Director for Student Health Services. In this position, the RN will provide quality professional nursing care to ill, injured, and well-presenting students within the Georgia Nurse Practice Act and Standards of Practice for Registered Professional Nurses. The Assistant Director will be responsible for the supervision of day-to-day operations and staff members at Student Health Services, including administrative and non-provider clinical staff. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to, maintaining compliance with regulations and guidelines related to OSHA, CLIA, HIPAA, and FERPA, assisting with the development and implementation of policies and procedures, ensuring pharmacy and medical inventory are maintained, and sitting on committees/attending meetings as directed. This is a multi-campus position with primary responsibility in the Gainesville campus.

In addition to a background checks for all cardholders, O.C.G.A. 50-5-83 requires a credit check on all employees issued a purchasing card. Additionally, credit checks must be run at the time of Pcard renewal.

Responsibilities
  • Delivers quality health assessment and treatment of ill or injured students within RN scope of practice; makes appropriate referrals to local health care providers and local health facilities as necessary. Assists MD, NPs, and PAs as needed. Administers ordered medication and treatments. Performs CLIA-waived point-of-care tests and maintains quality controls, performs phlebotomy and administers immunizations. Provides patient as indicated by the nature of complaint or illness.
  • Responsible for day-to-day operations and supervision of staff when Director is not present. Maintains open communication with Director of Student Health Services and AVP of Well-Being; attends meetings as directed.
  • Assists with establishment of policies and procedures to promote more efficient health care services; assists with development, implementation and evaluation of quality improvement projects; assists with inventory and changes based on needs of students and budget.
  • Assists with providing Student Health information at Preview Day, Orientation, FROG Week, and other special event coverage.
  • Develop departmental goals and assessments.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the department and institution.
Required Qualifications
  • Must have Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited institution, or an Associate degree in Nursing and be matriculated into an RN-BSN program with degree completion in the first six months of employment.
  • Minimum three years as a Registered Nurse with two years in a management role.
  • Current, unencumbered RN license in the State of Georgia
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in an outpatient college health, public health, primary care, or urgent care setting preferred.
  • Telehealth experience preferred.
Proposed Salary

Minimum Starting Salary: $78,641
