Occasional weekend rotation A Quality Improvement Registered Nurse assists and advises in the overall quality management program for Hospice Buffalo. Contributes to the continued development of Quality Improvement programs by review of patient Admissions to assure all standards of care, plan of care documentation and medication safety are in place. Performs data collection activities related to chart audits and satisfaction surveys. Compiles data used in monthly quality monitor reports. Assists in policy implementation and review process. Essential Duties & Responsibilities for a Quality Improvement Registered Nurse: Understands, communicates, and supports the importance of adherence to corporate compliance and regulatory tenets. Ability to understand and assess the application of agency documentation. Works with the QI Director and VP Clinical Services to achieve the QI Goals for Hospice. Serves as a resource to staff (real-time collaboration) regarding documentation requirements, participates in planning and arranging education programs related to documentation. Responsible for overall knowledge of Federal Conditions of Participation and NY State Department of Health Regulations for Hospice. Assists with the implementation of new/updated State and Federal Regulations related to policy writing, documentation audits, and quality monitoring practices. Communicate and integrate clinical practice and regulatory requirements in written policies and procedures. Effectively communicate the documentation on standards to staff as a result of chart audits performed. Organizes project assignments and other duties to assure timely completion. Adheres to HIPAA regulations and policies and able to articulate requirements to others. Qualifications for a Quality Improvement Registered Nurse: Education/Certification Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with current RN licensure in the State of New York. Certification in Hospice and Palliative Care Nursing preferred. Experience (2) Years of nursing practice as a professional nurse is preferred.
