JOB SUMMARY: The Group Fitness Instructor will provide professional & motivating group classes designed for a diverse population and varying fitness levels, delivered in a safe and effective manner and in compliance with the YWCA of Minneapolis standards and mission.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Class Instruction:
- Must hold a current, renewable Group Fitness Certification (eg AFAA, ACE, NETA) .
- Must be CPR certified or complete certification within 3 months of hire.
- Prefer minimum 2 consistent years' experience of class instruction.
- Provide quality instruction by actively promoting and demonstrating safe exercise in accordance with established exercise guidelines and practices using music and teaching style that is motivational and mission appropriate.
- Instructors have the freedom to design and teach classes that best fit their style and technique.
Communication and Admin Responsibilities - Group Fitness Instructor reports directly to the Group Fitness Manager
- Maintain timely and accurate recordkeeping.
- Actively promote YWCA programs and events to participants.
- Uphold YWCA of Minneapolis policies, protocols and procedures.
- Attend required departmental staff meetings and trainings.
- Maintain all required CPR certifications.
- Consistently use GroupExPro, the online program management tool.
- Critical relationships will include Group Fitness Manager, Group Fitness Instructors, and Midtown Facility Management team.
The YWCA of Minneapolis Midtown location is located on a bus line, close to the Greenway for cycle commuting, as well as near the light rail station. Additionally, we offer free parking for staff.
