Position Purpose: The Registered Nurse is responsible for educating, assisting, and interacting with patients in an outpatient clinic setting with regards to health promotion and wellness. Key Functions and Responsibilities Nurse Cardiac Catheterization/Electrophysiology Laboratory (CCL) RN is responsible for providing competent, evidence-based procedural care to assigned patients and oversight of staff, including but not limited to licensed vocational/practical nurses and/or health technicians/nursing assistants, as appropriate in the pre/post procedural setting. This position is responsible for accessing the need of each patient and performing duties requiring advanced training and experience as related to the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory (Cath Lab) and Electrophysiology (EP) and meeting the needs of the patient The nurse must have a working knowledge of major cardiac diagnoses, medications used in the procedure labs, medications used during emergency situations, knowledge of sterile technique, and flexibility to assist wherever needed The nurse is responsible for administration of IV sedation, monitoring patients, and as needed to assist the physician and/or other team members wherever possible during invasive procedures The nurse must participate in quality improvement and the educational development of self and others. This position requires flexibility in schedule and assignments, as procedures occasionally run longer than expected, and emergent cases may happen while staff are still on shift There is an on-call requirement for the Cardiac Cath lab for this position. Proficient in caring for venous and arterial sheaths and initiating peripheral IV sites is required Requires competency in EKG recognition, clinical competence in hemodynamic monitoring, data interpretation, and various interventional Cardiac procedures. The nurse must demonstrate advanced nursing skills to manage and assist with emergency or life-threatening situations (airway management and resuscitation efforts) The nurse will have knowledge, competency and will circulate and scrub in for the Structural heart Left and Right, Transesophageal. Heart ablation, valve replacement, TAVR, Thrombectomies, stents, angioplasties, assisting Implants of Pacemakers, TEE's, Catheterizations, ICDs, and other procedures The duties of this position involve use of reusable medical equipment. The incumbent will provide specific information to help the patient/family understand pre, intra, and post-procedure activities. They will communicate clearly, calmly, and confidently The incumbent functions as a preceptor assuming accountability and responsibility of clinical development for the assigned individual in orientation Demonstrates knowledge of basic principles of radiation safety and appropriate methods to minimize patient and staff exposure. It is required to assist with imaging This position requires detailed nurse documentation in electronic charting The nurse will set up procedures/stocking procedure rooms/supplies. Provides quality of care in accordance with policies and procedures in the organization. and ensuring not to use If equipment is expired, notify immediately for replacement. Qualifications Required Education and Licensing. Current unrestricted license. BLS and ACLS (American Heart Association approved) Required Knowledge and Experience. Minimum of three years recent experience. High-level of reliability and dependability A valid driver's license is required. Working Conditions and Environment This position is on-site in a medical facility. Driving may be required. Physical Requirements The position requires repetitive motion, such as standing, walking, sitting and bending. Light lifting, up to 20 pounds, may be required.
