Job Summary:
The Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialist at Bartlett Regional Hospital is an astute, knowledgeable clinician who can work without direct supervision to prioritize and complete CDI reviews on assigned medical records. They have the ability to compose clinically indicated concurrent queries to clarify the documentation. They possess the confidence and professional demeanor to communicate in person and electronically with attending and consulting physicians and additional members of the interdisciplinary medical team as they pursue an accurate coded visit. They also document the CDI process to communicate clearly with CDI, Case Management, Quality and HIM staff. They seek opportunities to stay abreast of new developments in the CDI and coding disciplines.
Under supervision of CDI lead, the incumbent utilizes knowledge of clinical care, documentation evaluation and coding experience to perform initial, subsequent and discharge reviews on all charts identified by current policy as included in the scope of the institution's CDI program.
The RN Case Manager also applies their knowledge to utilization management, medical necessity, patient status determination, Medicare compliance, and revenue cycle; collaborates with the multidisciplinary patient care team for optimal patient care outcomes, discharge planning, and readmission prevention; and participates in ongoing assessment of systems and clinical care processes.
Minimum Qualifications for the Job: - Education: Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing. Bachelor's of Science in Nursing preferred.
- Experience: Three (3) years of acute care nursing experience.
- Preferred Experience: One (1) year experience in utilization review, case management, care coordination, quality management or similar role is preferred.
- License(s): Current Registered Nurse license required, State of Alaska Registered Nurse license preferred.
- Certification(s): TEAM and BLS within three (3) months of appointment. These certifications are not required for staff working remotely under a telecommuting agreement.

Originally known as St. Ann s Hospital, the hospital opened in 1886 and was operated by the Sisters of St. Ann until the 1960s. In 1965, the hospital s operations were turned over to the City and Borough of Juneau, and a new facility was built at the hospital s present location on Hospital Drive.
Bartlett Regional Hospital is licensed for a total of 57 inpatient beds and 16 residential substance-abuse treatment facility beds in the Rainforest Recovery Center. The hospital serves a 15,000-square-mile region in the northern part of Southeast Alaska. Approximately 55,000 people reside in our service area, with most communities inaccessible by road.
