Title: Registered Dietitian
Location: Baltimore, Maryland
Job Type: 16 Weeks Contract
Shifts: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
Job Summary:
The Registered Dietitian will assist in delivering comprehensive nutritional care for pediatric patients, collaborating with the healthcare team to assess patient conditions, plan suitable diets, and evaluate responses. This role is ideal for professionals with experience in pediatric nutrition and those who are passionate about improving patient outcomes through dietary interventions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess patient nutritional needs and develop individualized care plans based on clinical evaluations.
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team to optimize nutrition care for pediatric patients, especially in critical care or ICU settings.
- Monitor patient progress, make adjustments to dietary plans, and ensure nutritional support is appropriate for each patient's condition.
- Provide nutrition education to patients, families, and healthcare professionals, emphasizing dietary management of specific diseases.
- Work with patients on counseling regarding nutritional habits, dietary choices, and lifestyle modifications.
- Supervise and mentor support staff and students, ensuring high standards of clinical practice.
- Document patient information accurately and timely using electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Ensure compliance with safety, infection control protocols, and hospital policies.
- Support the Nutrition Support Team in providing specialized nutritional therapies.
- Participate in research or quality improvement initiatives as needed.
Qualifications:
- Education Bachelor's degree in Dietetics, Food Science, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
- Licensure Must be credentialed as a Registered Dietitian (RD) by the Commission on Dietetic Registration and licensed as a Dietitian-Nutritionist (LDN) in Maryland.
- Experience Two or more years of clinical experience as a Registered Dietitian, including at least one year in a pediatric or specialty area. ICU and nutrition support experience is preferred.
- Strong analytical skills to assess, plan, and evaluate dietary interventions.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with interdisciplinary teams, patients, and families.
- Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and computer systems.
- Ability to educate, counsel, and motivate patients in achieving dietary goals.
- Ability to supervise and mentor support staff and students.
