Education & Knowledge

Licensed as a Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) in California.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to educate and interact with patients of all ages.
Detail-oriented with a focus on providing excellent patient care.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Performs a combination, but not necessarily all, of the following duties:

Patient Care and Treatment:
Conduct thorough patient screenings, including reviewing medical history, and documenting oral health conditions.
Perform dental cleanings, scaling, root planning, and prophylaxis to prevent or treat periodontal disease.
Apply preventive materials such as sealants, fluoride varnishes, and antimicrobial agents.
Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, including brushing, flossing, and other preventive care instructions.
Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) for diagnostic purposes.
Clinical Assistance:
Assist the dentist during dental procedures as necessary.
Administer local anesthesia under the dentist's supervision.
Prepare clinical treatment rooms, ensuring all instruments and equipment are sterilized and set up correctly.
Ensure compliance with infection control protocols following OSHA and CDC guidelines.
Patient Communication and Record Keeping:
Maintain detailed and accurate patient records, including charting conditions of decay and disease for diagnosis and treatment.
Communicate clearly with patients regarding treatment plans, follow-up care, and upcoming dental procedures.
Collaborate with other dental professionals to ensure seamless patient care and optimal outcomes.
Health Promotion and Community Education:
Provide oral health education to patients, families, and community members through presentations or clinic initiatives.
Stay informed about the latest dental hygiene practices and technologies and share relevant updates with the team.
Equipment Maintenance:
Ensure the proper functioning and maintenance of dental equipment, including ultrasonic scalers, suction devices, and X-ray machines.
Monitor inventory of dental hygiene supplies and communicate needs for reordering to the appropriate personnel.
