Position: Registered Behavior Technicians (RBT)

Assignment: Full Time 185 Day Contract (prorated) 7 hours daily depending upon experience

Reports to: Euclid City Schools: Director of Student Services/Principal/BCBA

Employment Status: Regular

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Description: Responsible for providing skills instruction and behavior reduction protocols based upon the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis to children with autism, serious emotional disabilities and other developmental disabilities in the school setting. The RBT will work under the direction of a BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst).

NOTE: The below lists are not ranked in order of importance

Essential Functions:
  • Provide direct student instruction, and assist staff with implementation, in one-on-one and group settings utilizing a combination of intensive teaching and natural environment teaching arrangements.
  • Follow prescribed behavior skills acquisition and behavior change protocols.
  • Assist with preparing materials as necessary.
  • Collect, record and summarize data on observable student behavior.
  • Assist with skill acquisition and behavioral assessments.
  • Collect data on all programming.
  • Document interventions, progress data, session notes
  • Assist with staff training of student's individualized treatment and behavior change protocols, through direct teaching, modeling and fidelity checks.
  • Immediately report to BCBA any student incidents/variances or complaints.
  • Communicate with staff regarding student progress as instructed by the BCBA.
  • Collaborate with school teams and attend IEP meetings as necessary.
  • Participate in in-service programs and present in-service programs as assigned.
  • Read and implement a BIP for a variety of students, sometimes without warning.
  • Ability to remain professional and react quickly/efficiently in high-stress situations
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Collaborate with classroom teacher about individual student needs and requirements which may include IEP goals
  • Maintain respect at all times for confidential information
  • Interact in a positive manner with staff, students and parents
  • Provides escort and mobility assistance to student when necessary.
  • Maintain and improve professional competence by attending professional growth seminars, workshops, etc.

Licenses, Certificates, and Qualifications:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

• Current Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification required

• Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Education, Special Education, or related field preferred

• Two year's experience working with students with behavior challenges preferred

• Fluent in the basic principals of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)

• Ability to work effectively with others

• Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing situations

• Student management skills

• Basic first aid

• Attend work and arrive in a timely manner

Additional Working Conditions

• Frequent interaction among children struggling to maintain age appropriate school behavior

• Occasional high stress situations

• Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue

• Occasional operation of a vehicle under inclement weather conditions, i.e., being prepared to come to school on all scheduled work days, except calamity days

• Occasional requirement to travel

• Frequent and regular requirement to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, see, read, speak, reach, stretch with hands and arms, crouch, climb, kneel, and stoop

• Occasional requirement to carry, lift, push and pull items up to a maximum of 50 pounds
