Job Summary
The Regional Vice President (RVP) of Payment Recovery Services functions as the General Manager of the assigned region, oversees the development, planning, direction, and control of activities essential for business success in Payment Recovery Services. The RVP drives organizational objectives to ensure financial and operational success through both short-term and long-term planning and actions. They are responsible for creating an environment that engages staff, ensures quality operations and administrative processes, fosters growth, and delivers predictable financial performance. The RVP has overall responsibility for the operation and activities of their region/business unit and its results. They work within the scope of authority established by Elevate PFS while supporting and adhering to our code of ethics, business standards, mission, and core values.
The RVP acts as a change agent, distinguishing between activity and performance results. Results-focused with the ability to achieve through other people. Creates a client and patient-focused environment where employees are passionate about their roles, understand the big picture, work collaboratively, and recognize that their purpose is to create a positive client/patient experience. The RVP must be proficient in fostering a team environment, developing the talents of individuals on the team, and being a constructive change agent. The RVP balances the demands of a complex matrix organization and demonstrates appropriate judgment and reasoning skills in decision-making. The RVP is a mentor and a person who creates a healthy and vibrant work environment and provides information to appropriate company functional leaders e.g. human resources, compliance, finance, etc. prior to distribution to government agencies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Leads the development and implementation of short/long-range plans to achieve the region/business unit goals and objectives.
• Achieve financial objectives (revenue and earnings) for his/her region/business unit.
• Contributes/directs the business development process to increase market share and sale of additional service lines to existing clients.
• Ensures that market assessment, identification of market segments and evaluation of revenue programs are conducted annually for his/her region/business unit.
• In conjunction with Corporate (sales, marketing, finance, and client engagement) departments, develops expansion plans, recommends expansion of service areas and development of new and profitable revenue ventures.
• Ensures continuous improvement of key operational and administrative processes to improve financial results and service excellence through demonstrated discipline and consistency.
• Evaluates and resolves general and specific business conditions as they relate to operational issues and keeps appropriate corporate departments fully informed.
• Recommends, implements, and administers changes to pricing as approved by Corporate. Ensures timely communication for price changes and implementation of approved pricing policies.
• Owns the organization development process for his/her organization and as such, ensures that performance planning, execution and coaching, assessment of performance, potential and promotability, and related development plans are in place for all employees.
• Oversees the employee evaluation process, including but not limited to performance evaluations, merit increases, promotions, and disciplinary actions of reports.
• Ensures compliance with documented and comprehensive quality, regulatory and compliance programs.
• Ensures adherence to legal requirements and government reporting regulations. Continually monitors exposure of the organization. Directs the preparation of information requested or required for compliance. Communicates information to appropriate company functional leaders e.g. human resources, compliance, finance, etc. prior to distribution to government agencies.
• Other duties as assigned. Qualifications and Requirements
To be successful, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The below requirements are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.
• Education - Bachelor's Degree in Finance/Accounting, Healthcare Management, Business (MBA/MHA) or related business field.
• Minimum of five (5) years' experience in Revenue Cycle Management Industry, Hospital Revenue Cycle Director/VP, Clinical Services Provider, Large Group Physician Practice or Military (healthcare operations management role).
• Business Acumen - Acquires and applies up to date information from the business world, revenue cycle and healthcare industries and cross-functional knowledge. Acquires, applies, and uses current knowledge in all areas of their own specialty or profession; is regarded as an expert; identifies and uses other expert resources as needed.
• Deep understanding of the entire revenue cycle, including billing, coding, and claims processing, to identify and recover underpayments effectively.
• Expertise analysis of payer contracts and negotiating terms to ensure maximum reimbursement and minimize underpayment occurrences.
• Proficiency in conducting zero balance audits to uncover hidden underpayments and recover lost revenue.
• Ability to perform detailed root cause analysis to identify the reasons behind underpayments and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
• Experience in managing appeals and disputes with payers to recover underpaid claims successfully.
• Strong skills in using data analytics tools to track underpayments trends, generate reports, and provide insights for continuous process improvement.
