GE Appliances is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Summer Intern to join our Refrigeration Product Line Marketing team on-site in Louisville, KY for 40 hours a week. This internship offers an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in product marketing within the appliance industry. You will contribute to various projects related to our refrigeration products, with a focus on understanding consumer behavior in the digital UX space, enhancing online presence, and developing marketing tools for new product launches. You will also collaborate with cross-functional teams and agency partners, to develop improved strategies to engage consumers in OTA (Over the Air) feature updates to our products.
Position Refrigeration Product Line Marketing Intern

How You'll Create Possibilities As a Refrigeration Product Line Marketing Intern, you will have a balance of learning and project-based work. Your key objectives and responsibilities will include:
Onboarding and Training: - Gain a comprehensive understanding of GE Appliances' corporate organization, including Marketing, Brand, Sales, and Product Management.
- Familiarize yourself with our Housing of Brand (HOB) strategy and how we differentiate product feature sets.
- Learn about consumer insights and brand guidelines.
- Research competitive products and adjacent digitally enhanced durable good products to understand best practices in launching OTA feature enhancement
Online Presence Enhancement: - Enhance our existing online presence for refrigeration products, including optimizing landing pages to maximize engagement with focus on digital UX features
- Analyze and report on competitive online presence for digital UX feature sets and recommend improvements.
Sales and Marketing Tools Development: - Identify and develop sales tools to support the launch and ongoing marketing of digital UX features
- Contribute to the creation of retail and contract customer feature highlight decks for product presentations.
Market Research and Analysis: - Utilize AI to analyze customer feedback (both positive and negative) regarding our refrigeration products.
- Analyze competitive landscape, including pricing, promotions, and product positioning (e.g., Samsung, LG and Whirlpool).
- Familiarize yourself with pre-existing research on competitive products and market trends in adjacent categories (e.g., smart home devices).
- Conduct an audit of selected brands in adjacent categories, focusing on their marketing and messaging of new digital features and benefits, to inform our refrigeration marketing strategies.
Content Creation and Collaboration: - Utilize social listening (Grind) to understand consumer unmet needs through analysis of conversations to understand trending issues
- Potentially create content (e.g., videos) for social media platforms to promote refrigeration products.
- Liaise with Doe Anderson agency summer interns on creative thought starter workshop focused on digital activations
Connected Integration: - Participate in discovery meetings with agency partners and GE Appliances stakeholders.
- Contribute to research activities focused on understanding how consumers adopt smart products in categories adjacent to refrigeration.
- Assist in the development of summary reports with findings and strategic opportunities.
- Contribute to brainstorm sessions to generate innovative marketing ideas.
What You'll Bring to Our Team Qualifications: - Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field.
- Ability to work 40 hours (8:00-5:00) per week for the duration of the internship.
- Strong interest in product marketing, market research, and consumer behavior.
- Excellent analytical, research, and critical thinking skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Familiarity with digital marketing concepts and social media platforms.
- Interest in the appliance industry and smart home technology is a plus.
- Ability to work onsite at GE Appliances in Louisville, KY. This position does not provide relocation or housing assistance.
