That's why our Recreation Specialist - Kitchen is such an important role in our Parks & Recreation department. This position provides a safe and engaging atmosphere for volunteers and participants in our congregate meal service at the Redmond Senior and Community Center. This is a fantastic, part-time position for someone who has worked in a restaurant or kitchen. You will be successful in this role if you are enthusiastic about nutrition and healthy eating for older adults.

Hours: We are currently looking to fill the Recreation Specialist - Kitchen position for the following shifts: Tues, Wed, Thurs from 9:30am-2:30pm. The position is limited to a maximum of 29 hours per week on average and no more than 1,040 hours per year.

Locations: Work will be conducted at our new Redmond Senior & Community Center.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide oversight and supervision of volunteers and participants before, during, and after our congregate meal service for seniors with shifts of Tues, Wed, Thurs from 9:30am-2:30pm
  • Clean all kitchen areas, cookware, and utensils, and make sure all appliances are in safe working order before and after meal service
  • Work with volunteers and provide backup support for setting tables, serving food and beverages, and checking participants in
  • Receive and prepare catered food for meal service for seventy or more participants
  • Pickup catered food with City vehicle and deliver to Redmond Senior and Community Center as needed
  • Guarantee proper food handling methods are in place and that all volunteers have a valid food worker card
  • Ensure all kitchen equipment is cleaned and safely stored at end of each meal service
  • Attend staff meetings and training programs as required
  • Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be enthusiastic, energetic, and passionate about working with people of all ages and ability levels, as well as have an interest in community recreation, programs for seniors, and nutrition
  • Previous experience working in a kitchen or restaurant preferred
  • Must have or obtain current food work card within 30 days of hire
  • Must have or obtain current First Aid and CPR certification within 30 days of hire
