GENERAL SUMMARY
Salary: $13.00/hr. minimum

To assist and supervise the public with usage of various Parks and Recreation facilities. To lead participants in a variety of recreational activities; to supervise the use of equipment and supplies; to enforce the rules and regulations of the Parks and Recreation Department; and to assist in organizing and implementing activities for the recreation program. Light cleaning, custodial duties as needed, and equipment set-up.

Kids Care
Westlake Attendant
Reservation Attendant
Concession Attendant at the Mesquite Girls Softball Complex SUPERVISION
•  General supervision is provided by a Recreation Supervisor or Recreation Specialist. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

•  All behaviors comply with the Code of Conduct and Rules of Behavior outlined in Chapter 8 of the General Government Policies and Procedures Manual. Adheres to assigned work schedule as outlined in city and department attendance policies and procedures.
•  Unlock and lock facilities for usage for various activities including reservations, programs or as directed by a supervisor.
•  Conduct assessments of facilities prior to usage and at the conclusion of events. Complete necessary paperwork and communicate effectively with customers.
•  Conduct daily recreational activities such as sports, games, dances, exercise, and arts and crafts classes for elementary school age participants.
•  Cash handling receiving, transmitting, safeguarding, depositing and reporting of funds whether cash, check, or other forms of payment.
•  Utilize department software supporting recreation programs, collect fees for facility reservation and register participants for programs, leagues, and memberships.
•  Maintain inventory control on equipment; maintain an accurate and current listing of users.
•  Observe safety precautions; correct minor safety problems; conduct activities in a safe manner; maintain discipline at indoor and outdoor recreation areas.
•  Answer phones and greet customers, provide public with information and answer questions regarding facility usage and programs.
•  Enforce and adhere to City and Department policies and procedures.
•  Assist in completing necessary forms and records including participation cards, attendance records, maintenance checklists and financial reports.
•  Required to assist with department special events.
•  Work a varied schedule, including days, nights and/or weekends. Hours of operation are Monday - Friday 9 am - 10 pm, Saturday 9 am - 9 pm and Sunday 1 pm - 6 pm.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•  Perform light custodial and cleaning of facilities as needed. Utilize small tools and equipment to clean and prepare tennis courts.
•  Set up facilities for programs or reservations including but not limited to tables, chairs, volleyball, and basketball equipment.
•  Work with internal and external customers to facilitate usage of facilities.
•  Perform other duties as assigned. MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Must be a minimum of 16 years of age at the time of hire.

Formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance

No experience required; however, experience in customer service or leading recreation programs is preferred.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES
•  Obtain First Aid and CPR certifications within 90 days of employment. WORK SCHEDULE
•  Sunday through Saturday between 10-20 hours per week. Possible increase of hours if applicant works weekends, special events, reservations, or front desk.

Part Time and Seasonal Employees:

PARS ARS 457 Plan enrollment is mandatory for part-time and seasonal employees who work less than 1,000 hours per year.
Each pay period, 6.2% of wages will be deducted from pay and deposited into your PARS ARS account. Contributions are made on a pre-tax basis.
Each pay period, the City will also contribute the equivalent of 1.3% of wages into a PARS ARS account. Employer contributions are deposited on a pre-tax basis.
There is no contribution to Social Security Administration.
