Job Title: Recreation Coordinator - Fitness Wellness & Youth Athletics
Department: Recreation
Classification: Non-Exempt

Hiring Range: $25.45/hour - $28.64/hour

Salary Range: $25.45/hour - $38.18/hour

Position Summary: The Recreation Coordinator provides a wide range of health-related programs and services, and oversite of youth athletic programs, tournaments, athletics events, as well as building and field maintenance, and duties consistent with the organization's values and mission statement.

Supervision Exercised and Received: This position works under the general supervision of the Recreation Supervisor- Programs.

Essential Job Functions:
Administrative
Creates and publishes patron calendars for fitness and wellness programs and all youth athletics programs and leagues. Manages the Aspen Recreation Center website content keeping activities, and special announcements up to date.
Uploads schedules and content on the web page and manages the content page for the monthly patron newsletter.
Collects and inputs data of patron counts.
Assists Supervisors in the input of work schedules on the ' whenIwork' software program.
Works on the customer complaint book and follows up with customers in a timely manner.
Helps with inventory and makes recommendations for retail sales and rental equipment.
Assists in the reporting of facility usage. Hires and trains fitness instructors, personal trainers, program instructors, sports officials, recreation and volunteer coaches.

Recreation Programming
Responsible for coordinating, marketing, managing, and evaluating recreation programs that include fitness, wellness, and passive recreation classes and programs. Records attendance and participation data related to programs.
Responsible for collecting and organizing customer surveys and results for programs to determine the continuity of fitness, health, and wellness programs. Creates and maintains fitness, wellness, and passive recreation classes and program information on the website, voicemail and publications, including on Rectrac.
Responsible for coordinating recreation programs which include daily programs, camps, events, tournaments, and other services associated with youth athletics. Collects and organizes surveys to identify needs of the local community to develop and improve programs.
Effectively communicate adequate information to program participants and staff. Assists with promoting and marketing programs through different forms of media. Researches and evaluates program offerings for best practice methods of meeting the community needs. Recruits, trains, and supervises seasonal staff and program volunteers.

Guest Service
Greets and assists visitors. Receives, screens and dispatches telephone calls. Provides positive customer service and information to all patrons. Provides information to customers by telephone, e-mail, facsimile and correspondence. Efficiently provides information to patrons regarding appropriate program content and registration processes. This may include the Red Brick Recreation Center as well as the Aspen Recreation Center.

Lead Worker
Responsible for/assists with hiring and training of all seasonal, temporary and/or intermittent personnel. Delegates tasks to personnel during shift as appropriate, insures adequate staffing, and completion of tasks during shift as appropriate. Communicates policies, procedures and job expectations. Provides training and resolves problems as necessary.

Safety
Responsible for keeping facility Emergency Action Plan in practice involving outside agencies. Able to document and support recommendations for improving safety procedures for public and staff. Keeps documentation of training in safety arena for compliances with City and State standards.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

Experience: Two years of recreation or other relevant experience, work experience should include customer service.

Technical Knowledge: Must be proficient in Microsoft Outlook (Email), Publisher, and a basic understanding of computers and online computer-based technology applications, which includes accessing web based platforms.

Licenses & Certifications: Must possess a valid Colorado Driver's License or be able to obtain one within 30 days of start date. Must possess current Red Cross training with Lifeguarding, First Aid and CPR Certification for the professional rescuer or ability to obtain within six months from date of hire.

Preferred Candidate: Has the ability to speak Spanish.

NOTE: Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required abilities, knowledge and skills as determined by the City of Aspen may be substituted for the requirements above.

NOTE: This position requires a Criminal Background Check upon hire. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a Criminal Background Check.

Position Type and Work Hours:
Regular full time, hours may vary with workload. Hours and schedule will vary depending on programs and events. Days and hours will change regularly.
Evenings/Weekends/Holidays may be required depending on department needs and special projects.

Work Environment:
Indoors: Office environment and in a recreation facility (pools, weight rooms, etc.).
Outdoors/Off-Site: Meetings, trainings, and site visits at a variety of city facilities and areas.
