DESCRIPTION OF WORK
An employee in this role is tasked with overseeing and actively engaging in the collection, assessment, evaluation, and validation of inmate records. This position entails managing a team of records staff who are responsible for compiling documentation in response to information requests, as well as conducting research and preparing various forms of correspondence, reports, and other essential documents. A critical aspect of the job is ensuring that inmate records are meticulously maintained, allowing for immediate access to the most current information. Within a state correctional facility, the responsibilities extend to processing both incoming and outgoing inmate transfer records, capturing photographs and fingerprints of inmates, and executing sentence computations. In a central office setting, the role also involves the careful review, interpretation, and application of pertinent court orders to facilitate accurate certified sentence computations. The work is conducted under the general supervision of an administrative supervisor, with performance evaluated for compliance with established policies, procedures, and processes through regular meetings, reports, and inspections of outcomes.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $50,836.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • Two years of experience as a Corrections Records Specialist (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • One year of experience as a Records Specialist 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Four years of clerical or correctional custodial experience that includes two years of specialized records work in a correctional facility; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes two years of specialized records work experience in a correctional facility.
Other Requirements:
  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
