This announcement will be used to fill one vacant position at the Management Analyst 2 / Records Management Specialist in the Evidence Intake Section of the BCA Forensic Science Services in St. Paul, MN. This is a full-time, permanent position that will provide support to the BCA Forensic Science Services and its external partners in the area of records management.

This position will:
  • Ensure laboratory records are retained and dispositioned appropriately
  • Prepare case materials, relevant documents and reports for discovery pursuant to the MN Rules of Criminal Procedure
  • Facilitate the identification and preparation of laboratory records for data practices purposes pursuant to the MN Data Practices Rules
  • Support the Quality Systems Group in management of forensic systems that maintain laboratory records
  • Ensure evidence submitted to the BCA Forensic Science Services is properly received and recorded in the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Three years of experience providing administrative support in maintaining, analyzing and interpreting Criminal History Records and/or records maintenance and/or control in a law enforcement agency. Bachelor's degree may substitute for one year of experience.
  2. Experience working with legal, criminal justice and data practice terminology.
  3. Experience analyzing, interpreting and applying state and federal statutes, rules and policies related to adult and juvenile criminal history information.
  4. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  5. Ability to work with a diverse clientele.
Preferred Qualifications

  1. A Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice.
  2. Experience or education as a paralegal or related field.
  3. Knowledge of the various components of the Minnesota Criminal Justice System and their functions.
  4. Knowledge of systems related to criminal history records and information exchange, such as, III, NLETS and NFF.
  5. Knowledge or experience with E-filing.
  6. Experience with standard computer software (e.g. word processing, spreadsheets)
Physical Requirements

Requires occasionally moving and transporting 50-pound items and frequently moving and transporting objects such as heavy tools and heavy file boxes. This job may require positioning self to a significant degree across rough terrain or may involve maintaining a stationary position for extended periods.
