Working Conditions

DCA is a unique and dynamic department consisting of 36 different boards, bureaus, a commission, and a program that license and regulate more than 3.4 million licensees in more than 280 license types including certificates, registrations, and permits. The Veterinary Medical Board (VMB) is a dynamic, team-oriented office of approximately 32 employees and is responsible for regulating the practice of veterinary medicine in the State of California.

The Veterinary Medical (Board) is responsible for consumer protection through the regulation of the profession of veterinary medicine in the State of California. It is one of the boards under the umbrella of the California Department of Consumer Affairs. The mission of the Veterinary Medical Board (VMB) is to protect consumers and animals by regulating licensees, promoting professional standards, and diligent enforcement of the California Veterinary Medicine Practice Act.

The VMB is seeking Seasonal Clerks to provide support to its Enforcement and Licensing programs.

Special Requirements
  • The position(s) require(s) a Background Investigation be cleared prior to being hired.
Title 11, section 703 (d) of the California Code of Regulations requires criminal record checks of all personnel who have access to Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI). Pursuant to this requirement, applicants for this position will be required to submit fingerprints to the Department of Justice and be cleared before hiring. In accordance to DCA's (CORI) procedures, clearance shall be maintained while employed in a CORI-designated position. Additionally, the position routinely works with sensitive and confidential issues and/or materials and is expected to maintain the privacy and confidentiality of documents and topics pertaining to individuals or to sensitive program matters at all times.
