We are looking for an experienced Range Safety Engineer to join our team. In this role, you'll play a key part in supporting the MDA Targets and Countermeasures Engineering Directorate, ensuring safe and successful flight tests across a diverse targets portfolio. You'll work with flight termination systems and range safety requirements, oversee hardware and software development, and contribute to investigations and review boards when needed. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where your expertise in range safety, flight termination systems, and missile defense will make a direct impact. What You'll Do:
•Serve as a Range Safety expert during flight tests, Range Safety Working Groups, and functionality testing
•Oversee requirements development, allocation, and verification for flight termination systems, including autonomous systems
•Support development, acceptance, qualification, integration, and checkout of GFE and CFE hardware and software
•Provide detailed reports to document status, findings, and recommendations
•Represent the team in Working Groups, Technical Interchange Meetings, and other forums
•Take on additional duties as needed What You Bring:
•Master's degree in a STEM field
•12+ years of experience working with missile defense or other complex DoD programs
•Active Secret clearance
•Ability to work independently and lead teams to analyze and resolve technical challenges
•Strong knowledge of Range Safety Requirements and flight safety analysis
•Proficiency with Range Tracking Systems (inertial measurement, GPS, C-band tracking)
•Familiarity with RCC-319 (Flight Termination Commonality Standard) and RCC-324 (Range Safety Tracking Systems Commonality Standard)
•Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment and handle time-sensitive issues
•Strong communication skills-both written and verbal Bonus Points For:
•Experience with autonomous flight termination systems
•Background in batteries, RF systems, ordnance, and antennas
•10+ years of experience in the defense and aerospace industry
•Flight Test Range Safety experience Travel:
•1-2 weeks per year, based on project needs
