Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Begin to learn and implement all Reserve Analysis Lab policies and testing procedures associated with incoming drill core samples. The employee will begin by learning the basic set-up and operations of the Reserve Analysis Lab in the core room through finished testing procedures.
There are 4 levels of Reserve Analysis Laboratory Technicians that have associated task training procedures that must be completed to progress to each subsequent level.
All Reserve Analysis Laboratory employees share the following duties and responsibilities:
- Receive and audit crude clay.
- Composite and grind crude clay.
- Screen crude clay for brightness testing.
- May be required to go into any KaMin plant, mine, or storage areas to obtain/retrieve samples.
- Whenever required to use a company vehicle, employees must have a valid driver's license.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the safe use of all equipment/instruments and handling of chemicals and gases.
- Comply with all safety rules, policies, and procedures with the intent to maintain a safe working environment.
- Immediately report all safety incidents, accidents, or injuries to the supervisor.
- Required to participate in regularly scheduled safety meetings to meet team objectives.
- Must understand and comply with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required and posted at each work area.
- Accepts and performs delegated tasks, including lead safety meetings, housekeeping inspections, completing forms, etc.
- Participate in the evaluation of different processes and procedures carried out by RAL Technicians and propose changes or modifications to management that will improve safety, quality, and/or productivity.
- Being a team player.
- May be required to perform other duties.
Working Conditions: Most duties are performed in a climate controlled laboratory while standing on the testing benches a majority of the time. Job may involve the handling of hazardous chemicals and gases, as well as possible exposure to noise and dust. Performs multiple activities with time limitations. Employees may be required to work scheduled or unscheduled overtime. May be required to lift up to 60 pounds on occasions. Must be able to stand for entire workday, walk long distance, climb stairs and ladders.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: - Strong lab sciences/testing background.
- Organization and cleanliness are required in this environment to ensure sample integrity.
- Ability to operate the equipment and instruments needed for the testing of clay samples in a safe and effective manner.
- All testing to be carried out following procedures established in the Department's ISO9000 documentation.
- Computer proficiency, Microsoft Word and Excel, KAMIN's Intranet, and the Department's geological database.
