Job Summary and Qualifications
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Radiologist, performs Radiology Services procedures at a technical level requiring no constant supervision of technical detail. Performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgement, with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation. Assumes responsibility for designated areas or proceduresrequired.
Recognizes thepurposeemployment is to prioritize the patient as number one, and to put forth the utmost quality as a Technologist. Performs examinations on patients of various ages from pediatric to geriatric.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Selects andoperatesequipment, selecting proper technical factors on an individual patient basis, selects and loads properfilmcassettes, using filmmarkerscorrectly and consistently, develops film asrequired.
Assistphysicians in performance of examinations by mixing and pouring contrast media, administering opaque media,holdingand turning patients,assistingin sterile procedures, and other related duties asrequired.
EDUCATION REQUIRED AND/OR PREFERRED:
- Associate Degreeor equivalent in Radiological Technologyrequired.
- Must have been either "Grandfathered" by the state of Texas or passed with a certificate from a Radiology program accredited by the American Registryof Radiological Technologists, American Society of Registered Technologists, and American College of Radiologistrequired.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: (listrequiredand preferred separately)
- Texas Department of Health MRT certification required.
- Current BCLS certification required.
- ARRT registeredrequiredor registry eligible
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED OR PREFERRED: (listrequiredand preferred separately)
- Comprehensive knowledge of anatomy, positioning, radiographic techniques, and radiation protection concepts and techniquesrequired.
- Knowledge of radiographic physics, knowledge of medical terminologyrequired.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:
- Reads and writesbasicEnglish, with the basic skills necessary to interpret physician'sorders.
- Ability to lift in excess of 100 pounds with assistancefrom otherstaff.
- Knowledge of department,hospitaland universal infection control policies.
- Must have effective communicationandlistening skills.
- Must attend all department/hospital-mandated classes such as infection control, fire, safety,etc, in a twelve-month period.
