Education Required: Enrolled Student in a CoxHealth affiliated School/College of Radiologic Technology Experience No Prior Experience Required Skills Strong analytical/problem solving skills. Knowledge of current diagnostic radiology technical information. Proficient in using computers and computer systems. Excellent time management, interpersonal, presentation, organization, prioritizing, decision-making, and planning skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Able to work independently and collaboratively in teams. Licensure/Certification/Registration Must obtain BLS within 90 days of hire date Position Competencies: Competencies are essential skills needed to be successful in a position. Communicates effectively with patient to obtain clinical history/informed consent from patient or patient's chart to assist the physician in optimizing the performance and interpretation of the examination, as evidenced by the exam. Explains procedure to patient/family and answers any questions to ease anxiety and assure patient/family cooperation. Refers to registered radiologic technologist on duty with questions Demonstrates the ability to recognize clinical and/or emergent problems that may interfere with exams and take appropriate action to resolve them and produce the most desirable outcome, as evidenced by resultant exam quality and patient satisfaction. Demonstrates a basic understanding of Radiology principles, theory, anatomy and pathology. Correctly identifies patient and their files ensuring a high degree of accuracy, as evidenced by the lack of mislabeled images and files. Tracks patient according to departmental procedures. Identifies errors and takes immediate action for corrections. Maintains personal radiation exposure reading within ALARA (As low As Reasonably Achievable) guidelines, as evidenced by monthly radiation exposure reports. Adheres to departmental policies and protocols. Maintains an orderly, safe and clean environment, to include exam rooms and work areas, ensuring patient and employee safety. Ensures rooms are stocked with appropriate supplies and has required supplies readily available for procedures.
