Job Summary
Full-Time, 40 Hours Monday - Friday (7:30 am - 4:00 pm)
Oversees the clinical education and supervision of radiologic technology students enrolled in an accredited affiliated Radiologic Technology program. Additionally, the technologist is involved in daily patient care working in conjunction with supervisor in all areas of Diagnostic imaging.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Under general supervision and following established procedures and protocols performs/facilitates Diagnostic Imaging examinations for all patients.
- Plans, directs, and implements the clinical training program for student affiliates.
- Teaches the clinical application of radiographic positioning, image processing and evaluation, equipment manipulation, basic patient care techniques, and department workflow to radiologic technology students
- Evaluates and documents student progress by writing performance evaluations
- Performs and documents competency assessments of Radiologic Technology students
- Maintains records of student performance and provides feedback to affiliated Radiologic Technology programs per program policies and procedures
- Attends Clinical Coordinator meetings at affiliated program campuses
- Assures staff technologists are aware of student clinical requirements.
- Communicates regularly with staff members who work with students to assess performance
- Operates and demonstrates proper use of radiographic imaging equipment in all areas of diagnostic imaging according to manufacturer recommendations and operating manuals
- Maintains proficiency with all imaging equipment and department protocols
- Assures equipment is maintained in safe and proper working order. Reports room malfunctions to appropriate personnel and places service call when appropriate
- Enters the appropriate charges into the EMAR accurately for all exams
- Ensures that all exams of high quality and available for interpretation in a timely fashion
- Follows workflow plan developed by the supervisor and alerts the supervisor to problems as necessary to a changing environment.
- Monitors the equipment performance and takes the appropriate measures to have the problems resolved (i.e. arrange service/repairs).
- Consistently demonstrates effective communication, both written and verbal, with all departmental, hospital staff, and vendors.
- Performs all other duties as assigned or required to ensure efficient operation of the department and quality patient care
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Work in an area that can be noisy and have extreme temperature/ humidity variations.
- Exposure to ionizing radiation.
- Continuous standing, sitting, and lifting.
- Must be able to lift and move 25 pounds of weight.
Qualifications
-Massachusetts Department of Public Health licensure for Radiologic Technologist, required
- ARRT registry in Radiologic Sciences, required
- BCLS, required
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience required
- Must have graduated from an approved program in Radiologic Sciences
- Associates required; Bachelors preferred
- Staff adheres to all I.C.A.R.E. Standards
- Effectively and efficiently produce high quality radiographic imaging studies
- Must be able to multi-task and think in a proactive manner
