Occ Summary

Perform a variety of technical tasks involved in operating radiographicequipment and making radiographs of designated ana tomical areas ofinterest.


Work Performed

Perform a va riety of tasks involved in operating x-ray equipment to makeradiographs of designated anatomical areas of interest. Adjust equipmentfor proper r adiographic exposure techniques in accordance with radiationsafety guide lines.Explain x-ray procedures to patients.Position patients for each anatomical view using positioning assistancedevices and protective equipme nt as necessary.Monitor accessory equipment and assist the physician wit h fluoroscopicprocedures and special radiographic procedures.Accurately process images for optimal quality. Match with appropriatepaperwork for interpretation.Charge radiographic procedures in; able to modify orders per protocol.Demonstrate acceptable film quality standards by critiquing positioning,technical factors, and collimation.Understands and uses the Image Archival SystemProvide education and training to DUHS affiliated radiology technologyprograms.Provide orientation to new technologists.Pe rform other related duties incidental to the work herein DUHS offers ca reer growth and enrichment within Imaging services.There is a clinical l adder program with various steps and opportunitiesat each hospital withi n the health system.

E ducation

Graduate or completion of program that meets eligibility requirementsfor registry/certification or currently holds required regi stry orcertification.


Experience

Level I must obtain certification within 18 months of employment.Level II Minimum of two yea rs' experience as a diagnostic radiologytechnologist.Level III A minimum of 4 years' experience within specialty modality inwhich they are seeki ng promotion.
