The Radiation Therapist is responsible for simulating and delivering a planned course of ionizing radiation, prescribed by the radiation oncologist. This position requires population specific competencies. Adheres to National Patient Safety Goals as appropriate based on the level of patient contact this position requires. The Radiation Therapist responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Delivers a planned course of radiotherapy accurately and effectively following the physician prescription
Assists the Radiation Oncologist in localization using conventional or CT simulators
Assists with patient education and assessment
The Radiation Therapist reports to the Operations Manager Radiation Oncology or Radiation Therapist Team Lead as appropriate.
This position may have additional or varied physical demand and/or respiratory fit test requirements.

Exposures to hazardous risks including radiation, potential exposure to infectious and communicable diseases, blood and body fluids, electrical equipment and chemicals.
Potential for bodily related injury due to lifting and incidents of workplace violence.
Must follow universal precautions.
Exposed to constant interruptions, noise, disagreeable odors and assorted chemicals, cerobend by products from custom blocks.
Hazards can be minimal if proper safety precautions are utilized.

Graduation from an accredited school of radiation therapy
Bachelors degree preferred
ARRT Certification or registry eligible
Must be able to communicate effectively in English
