Radar Systems Manager

Location: Portreath, Cornwall

Type: Permanent, Full-time, 40 hours/week

Schedule: Shift work, 3 days on, 3 days off

Job Overview

Serco is seeking a Radar Systems Manager for our Portreath site in Cornwall. This multi-functional role reports directly to the Air Defence Senior Program Manager. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of the BAE T102 Air Defence Radar System, Secondary Radar, CS/Guardian Systems, SSSB, Ground to Air Communications, Power distribution, and Generator Systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage daily maintenance and fault rectification tasks
  • Oversee the maintenance, repair, and modification of AD communication and Type 102 Radar systems
  • Ensure continuous, safe, and reliable operation of all AD and communication systems
  • Maintain technical equipment including Type 102 Radar, VCS/Guardian Systems, Secondary Radar, SSSB, Ground to Air Communications, Power systems, and Generators
  • Manage technical certificates and competencies of AD staff
  • Promote safe working practices and safety compliance
  • Attend siting boards and safeguarding meetings as the focal point
  • Coordinate with stakeholders such as the RAF, BAE, MOD, and local suppliers
  • Manage site documentation and configuration control
  • Ensure H&S compliance at RRH Portreath and associated buildings
Qualifications and Skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and in teams
  • Strong process adherence and communication skills
  • Flexible and adaptable approach
Experience
  • Minimum 5 years' experience with Type 102 Radar systems
  • Proven maintenance experience with AD equipment
  • Knowledge of AD operations
  • Royal Air Force experience (desirable)
  • Ability to obtain SC clearance
  • Driving license
