Job Description

As a Middle School Tennis Coach, your primary responsibility is to guide and develop young athletes in tennis fundamentals, sportsmanship, and teamwork. Your role is essential in creating a positive and inclusive environment that promotes learning, growth, and a love for the sport. This position supports the overall development of student-athletes and prepares them for future athletic opportunities.

Responsibilities
  • Work alongside high school tennis coaches to align instruction with varsity techniques, strategies, and terminology.
  • Plan and organize regular practices that focus on skill development, conditioning, and match strategy.
  • Teach fundamental tennis skills including proper grip, footwork, stroke mechanics, serving, and court positioning.
  • Provide individualized instruction to help players progress in technique, game awareness, and confidence.
  • Emphasize the importance of safety, hydration, and injury prevention during all practices and matches.
  • Prepare athletes for competition by developing singles and doubles strategies and match readiness.
  • Make decisions on player pairings, match lineups, and in-game adjustments during competitions.
  • Maintain a composed and encouraging demeanor to support players during practices and match play.
  • Foster a team culture that emphasizes respect, responsibility, and sportsmanship both on and off the court.
  • Encourage collaboration and a supportive atmosphere among team members of all ability levels.
  • Teach athletes to demonstrate integrity in victory and defeat, and to respect opponents, officials, and teammates.
  • Promote inclusion by ensuring that all student-athletes feel valued and have opportunities to contribute.
  • Communicate consistently with players, parents, and school administration regarding schedules, match details, and expectations.
  • Ensure a safe and positive environment by following district and athletic department safety guidelines.
