Job Title: R&D Laboratory Technician
Job Description: Element Staffing is recruiting for an R&D Lab Technician for a large chemical company in Pasadena, TX. The Lab Technician will perform product development assistance activities, sample preparation for customers, analytical testing and technical service support. They will coordinate and participate in various activities to meet departmental goals and comply with company policies and procedures in all aspects of laboratory operations.
Duties/Responsibilities/Qualifications:
- Follow all established quality, safety and environmental procedures and policies.
- Assist in maintaining lab equipment, ensuring adequate lab supply inventories, and conducting monthly checks, including performing/assisting with repairs and PM on instrumentation.
- Conduct testing activities that include use of the following: POLY and AFT, Powder testing (PSD, ASG, VM, FM, ICI flow WABASH test, RI etc.), blending compounds, roll mill, press, cutting (including CNC, saws, etc.), notching, thermal stability testing.
- Operating viscometer, particle size analyzer, HDTNicat instrumentation,
- Utilizing Colorimeter, impact testers, extruder (Xplore, single and twin screw- including methodology and troubleshooting), universal testing instrument (flex, tensile), melt index, etc.
- Perform Mini injection molding and injection molding-including methodology and troubleshooting.
- Conduct and evaluate results of Brabender testing (pickup, chamber, sheet, rod, etc.).
- Run and evaluate results from analytical equipment such as FTIR, GC, GPC, EEW, etc.
- Assist and/or complete non-routine laboratory request.
- Communicate with management, supervisors, production, customer service, marketing, QC, maintenance, etc.
- Ensure computer entry of laboratory data is completed properly and clearly.
- Write weekly reports and participate in weekly meetings.
- Clearly communicate problems to laboratory personnel, supervision and management.
