The R&D Electrical Automation Engineer will lead the design, development, and integration of advanced electrical automation systems to support innovative manufacturing solutions. They will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement, ensure system reliability, and bring new technologies from concept to production. Description Responsibilities:
•  Design, program, simulate, and test automated machinery aimed at optimizing manufacturing processes, while factoring in automation workflows, production layouts, and safety protocols.
•  Lead the development, programming, and integration of electrical automation systems.
•  Continuously evaluate and implement new technologies and methods to enhance quality, safety, and efficiency.
•  Oversee new equipment procurement projects, engaging with vendors, drafting engineering specifications, and reviewing qualification protocols.
•  Develop and update critical manufacturing documents, such as specifications, SOPs, safety instructions, validation protocols, and risk assessments, ensuring compliance and operational efficiency.
•  Ensure adherence to both international and local regulatory standards in the design, process, and safety considerations.
•  Define project timelines, scope, and budgets while managing project plans and providing regular updates on progress.
•  Lead experimental designs, conduct validations, and analyze test data for actionable insights.
•  Mentor and provide leadership to junior engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of growth and collaboration.
•  Troubleshoot and resolve complex automation system issues, identifying root causes and implementing long-term solutions.
•  Take on additional responsibilities as assigned by the Research & Development Team Leader. Profile Ideal Candidate:
•  Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology; preference given to Electrical or Software Engineering, though other disciplines will be considered.
•  Minimum of 6 years of hands-on experience in product or process development within a relevant engineering field.
•  Solid foundation in automation control systems, including but not limited to: PLCs, HMIs, motion control systems, vision systems, servo motors, and robotics.
•  Familiarity with standard engineering practices, analytical methods, and business tools. Experience with SolidWorks (including Electrical and PDM), GXWorks, and C-More is a plus.
•  Strong background in statistical analysis and design of experiments (DOE) is highly preferred.
•  Skilled in risk assessment and hazard analysis, including FMEA and structured design reviews.
•  Experienced in electrical panel layout and assembly.
•  Knowledgeable in documentation practices, including change orders, specification writing, and working within quality systems and ISO standards.
•  Comfortable using Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), with the ability to adapt to new software quickly.
