We are working with a well-regarded, multi-disciplinary civil engineering and development group with a strong presence across South Wales. With a diverse portfolio and multiple operational divisions, they have established a strong reputation for delivering complex and high-quality infrastructure and groundworks projects.
Due to continued growth and a secure pipeline of regional projects, their civil engineering and groundworks division is now looking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their expanding commercial team.
The successful candidate will report directly to a Commercial Manager, who will support and mentor this individual whilst they carry out their role from inception through to final account, ensuring effective cost control, risk management, and contractual compliance across a variety of schemes.
Projects will include greenfield infrastructure developments, residential and commercial groundworks, spine roads and S278 works.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage project budgets, cost planning, and valuations
- Prepare and negotiate subcontractor and supplier packages
- Assess and certify subcontractor applications for payment
- Monitor and manage project variations and change control.
- Support with contract administration and final accounts
- Ensure accurate project reporting and forecasting.
- Liaise with site teams and stakeholders to ensure commercial objectives are achieved
- Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities
Candidate Criteria:
- Minimum 3 years post-graduate experience (preferably in a civil engineering or groundworks)
- Understanding of construction contracts (e.g. NEC, JCT)
- Commercially astute with strong negotiation and analytical skills
- Relevant qualifications in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management
