Quantitative Analyst - Energy Trading & Risk

A fast-growing energy company is looking for a Quantitative Analyst to join their world-class team. This organization is focused on modernizing how electricity is managed and delivered, with an emphasis on data, engineering, and innovation. They are looking for someone to build out their analytics/modeling functions.
This role will focus on developing and maintaining internal tools and models that monitor exposure, support trading strategies, and enhance overall risk management capabilities.
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement a comprehensive platform to monitor and manage market risk.
- Develop models to analyze portfolio performance and evaluate trading positions.
- Build and maintain tools to track key risk metrics and generate insights for decision-making.
- Gather, process, and interpret data from multiple sources to support analytical efforts.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Strong experience in quantitative analysis, risk management, or data science.
- Strong programming skills in Python (or similar language) and proficiency in SQL.
- Solid background in statistical analysis and modeling.
- Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability in dynamic work environments.
Preferred:
- Familiarity with risk systems and modeling frameworks.
- Experience in energy trading or exposure to electricity markets.
- Understanding of retail power markets is a plus.
This an office based role 5 days a week, in downtown Austin. Compensation offered is in the region of $175,000-$225,000 with
