Description
The Quality Specialist (Aerospace) will:
Program and operate Zeiss Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) using Calypso software to inspect precision-machined components.
Perform first article, in-process, and final inspections to ensure compliance with engineering drawings, GD&T standards, and customer specifications.
Interpret technical drawings to define effective inspection strategies and identify critical features.
Maintain accurate inspection records, nonconformance reports, and traceability documentation.
Support or conduct non-destructive testing (NDT) methods such as liquid penetrant, magnetic particle, or ultrasonic testing (if qualified).
Collaborate with machinists, engineers, and project teams to resolve quality issues and support production goals.
Participate in root cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Assist in developing and enhancing inspection plans, quality procedures, and tooling requirements.
Support compliance with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100) and internal audit activities.
Communicate quality standards and inspection results clearly across multiple teams.
Operate within safety guidelines and promote a culture of quality and operational excellence.
Adapt to project needs with flexibility for overtime or adjusted shifts when necessary.
Profile
The successful Quality Specialist (Aerospace) will have:
3-5 years of experience in a QA/QC role within a precision manufacturing or machine shop environment.
Proficiency in operating and programming Zeiss CMMs using Calypso software.
Strong understanding of GD&T principles, technical drawings, and precision inspection methods.
Familiarity with non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques such as liquid penetrant, magnetic particle, or ultrasonic testing (certifications a plus).
Experience with first article, in-process, and final inspections of complex machined components.
Knowledge of quality management systems such as ISO 9001 or AS9100.
Hands-on experience working with exotic alloys (e.g., Inconel, Titanium) or high-performance materials preferred.
Background in aerospace, power generation, turbomachinery, or similar high-spec industries preferred.
Strong communication skills for cross-functional collaboration and issue resolution.
Ability to maintain detailed inspection records and support traceability documentation.
Skilled in root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions.
Technical certification or associate degree preferred; high school diploma or equivalent required.
