POSITION: Quality Management Systems Specialist

REPORTS TO: Food Safety & Quality Assurance Director

Position Summary

The QMS Specialist will be responsible for supporting product commercialization, claims certifications, and plant/corporate Quality Assurance teams.

Essential Functions
  • Lead and administrator the document control process in SharePoint and other software solutions, provides technical writing support for QA programs.
  • Ensures that Plant Quality Teams are kept apprised of changes to quality systems and organize the plant implementation and compliance planning and training.
  • Support Corporate Quality Team in software and system implementation.
  • Support the development of the internal audit program.
  • Support the development/maintenance of the specification system.
  • Work directly with claims certification bodies via their web portals and individual contacts to ensure new products are certified during product commercialization, and certification activities are completed to maintain certification.
  • Schedule and facilitate all product certification plant audits where applicable.
  • Support the Plant Teams on corrective actions, verification of effectiveness, and timely closure of internal and external audit findings and action plans.
  • Communicates audit results to respective manufacturing and internal departments along with subsequent actions and activities being taken to ensure compliance.
  • Complete tasks assigned via the ERP system (such as adding claims attributes to new products).
  • Ensures business partners and manufacturing sites are responsive to Flagstone 's requirements through timely communication and CAPA closure.
  • Provide product traceability support for recalls and claims mass balance requests.
  • Assist with the transfer of quality data between systems and design of automated transfer of quality data between systems.
  • Work collaboratively with customer quality and supplier quality teams to complete customer requests for quality and food safety documentation and information.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications (Education/Experience)
  • B.S. in Chemistry, Food Science, or related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in commercial food Quality Control/Quality Assurance (QC/QA) or R&D.
  • Experience working with food safety and claims certification programs; Kosher, Organic, SQF, RSPO, GMO Project Verified.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft applications (SharePoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and technical aptitude to learn. new systems: experience with SAP and SAP PDM module is a plus.
  • Ability to translate technical and/or analytical information to individuals of varying technical knowledge.
  • Able to manage multiple assignments/tasks concurrently with ability to prioritize work.
  • Communicate effectively and openly while working in a cross-functional team.
  • Must be a self-starter, independent, energetic, and resourceful.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Strong computer and documentation skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Must protect confidential information.
  • Travel up to 25% - (Domestic & International).

FLSA Designation: This position is a Salaried Exempt and not eligible for overtime.

Work Location: Minneapolis, MN - travel expected less than 10%
