POSITION SUMMARY

The Quality Technician will work directly with the Quality Manager. They will create, document, and improve processes. In addition, they will conduct training for new and existing employees.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide leadership, direction, and communication to the quality team.
  • Conduct new-hire training and continuous improvement training.
  • Develop Warranty Return process and implement it across the company. Ownership of entire process including Customer Service, troubleshooting, receiving returns, and final disposition.
  • Identify need and develop work instructions.
  • Review daily production and scrap reporting. Identify improvement opportunities and take appropriate correction action.
  • Continuously look for ways to improve processes, efficiency, and training/development opportunities.
  • Participate in corrective and preventative action activities.
  • Perform process audits and final inspections.
  • Conduct incoming inspection of raw materials.
  • Inspect parts for conformance to dimensional and cosmetic standards.
  • Take lead on UL Certification audits and activities.
  • Ensure all calibrations are current and properly documented.
  • Create and update controlled documents (SOP's and WI's).
  • Participate in First Article activities while signing off on the Quality Dept segment of the process.
  • Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND TECHNICAL SKILLS
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent education.
  • Minimum 1 year of manufacturing and shipping experience.
  • Ability to be forklift trained.
  • Basic computer knowledge (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, IQMS).
SOFT SKILLS / ABILITIES
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read, create and understand work instructions, procedures, and read prints.
  • Must have mechanical aptitude, good attention to detail, ability to perform basic math computations and computer data entry.
  • Ability to use measuring devices (calipers, etc.) and hand and power tools (drills, etc.).
  • Good visual ability to detect quality defects.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to be a quick learner and adjust to changes on the job within a reasonable amount of time.
  • Multitasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in a timely manner.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Comfort and ability to be exposed to shop elements such as noise, dust, odors, heat and cold.
