Quality Engineer
6-12 Month Contract (Possible extension or C-T-H)

Job Description
Implement and maintain quality evaluation and control systems for processing materials into finished items and components. Collaborate with Quality, Engineering, and Manufacturing functions to ensure the integrity of our quality standards are maintained. Devise and implement inspection methods and procedures for inspecting and evaluating the items and materials in our production system. Implement documented control systems for products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications. Conduct quality assurance audits of the quality system to identify deficiencies and document corrective and preventative actions. Ensure that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards, and that documentation is compliant with regulatory requirements.
Required skills
- Able to develop and apply quality inspection methods for materials, items, and components.
- Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and procedures for compliance to QA system requirements.
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, product/performance specifications.
- Demonstrated basic understanding of QA auditing techniques.
- Ability to analyze and resolve process issues.
- Effective interpersonal skills, including team building and collaboration.
- Problem solving skills, including root cause analysis and corrective action planning.
- Effective communication skills: written, oral, listening, presentation, technical writing.
- Proficient skill level with Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access, etc.
- Industrial manufacturing inspection experience (electrical/mechanical).
Desired skills
- Quality experience in the commercial nuclear industry (NRC 10CFR50 Appendix B, and ASME NQA-1).
- Experience is preferred with NRC 10CFR Part 21 (Reporting of Commercial Nuclear Defects).
- Engineering Degree in one of the following disciplines: Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering
- Previous work experience in commercial nuclear manufacturing
- Previous work experience in commercial nuclear quality auditing.
