The Quality Engineer is responsible for initiating FAI and SPS requirements, overseeing calibration and internal audits, and supporting third-party and customer quality audits. The ideal candidate should have experience with GD&T, reading machining and fabrication drawings, metal fabrication, quality control measuring devices, AS9100 D & AS13100 standards, and CMM operation, with additional knowledge of NDT processes and inspection report creation.

Description

  • Initiate FAI & SPS Requirements - Manage First Article Inspections (FAI) and Source Process Sign-offs (SPS) for new jobs to ensure compliance with AS9100 and AS13100.
  • Oversee Calibration Program - Maintain and manage calibration of all quality control measuring devices to ensure accuracy in inspections.
  • Lead Internal Audits - Oversee internal audit programs to uphold AS9100 and AS13100 compliance and support continuous improvement.
  • Assist with Quality Audits - Support the Quality Manager in third-party, customer, and special process audits to maintain industry certifications.
  • Provide Leadership Support - Act as a backup for the Quality Manager and Lead Inspector in quality-related tasks and decision-making.
  • Interpret Engineering Drawings - Read and analyze machining and fabrication drawings using GD&T principles to ensure precise manufacturing.
  • Quality Control & Inspection - Utilize measuring tools (verniers, micrometers, height gauges) to inspect parts and generate detailed reports.
  • CMM Programming & Operation - Program and operate CMMs (including Romer Arm) for precision measurement and quality verification.
  • Ensure Compliance with Industry Standards - Apply AS9100 and AS13100 quality system requirements in all aspects of inspection and reporting.

Profile

  • B.S. in Engineering or equal experience
  • Strong Knowledge of GD&T - Accurately interprets and applies Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing in machining and fabrication.
  • Expertise in AS9100 & AS13100 Compliance - Ensures all quality processes align with aerospace industry standards.
  • Proficiency in CMM Programming & Operation - Programs and operates CMMs, including Romer Arm, for precise part measurement.
  • Thorough Understanding of Inspection & Measuring Tools - Utilizes verniers, micrometers, height gauges, and other quality control instruments.
  • Experience with FAI & SPS Requirements - Manages First Article Inspections (FAI) and Source Process Sign-offs (SPS) for new jobs.
  • Audit & Compliance Management - Oversees calibration programs, internal audits, and assists with third-party and customer audits.
  • Familiarity with NDT Processes - Understands Non-Destructive Testing (FPI & X-ray) and its role in aerospace quality control.
  • Strong Problem-Solving & Analytical Skills - Identifies and resolves quality issues efficiently while maintaining production flow.
  • Excellent Organizational & Documentation Abilities - Creates and manages inspection reports, bubble drawings, and laser lab test submissions.
  • Effective Teamwork & Communication - Works collaboratively with engineers, machinists, and inspectors to uphold quality standards.
