Quality Director Position Summary The Quality Director is a senior leadership role responsible for developing, implementing, and managing quality assurance and quality control processes across various steel fabrication facilities. This role ensures that all products meet the highest standards of quality and compliance with industry regulations. The Quality Director will lead a team of quality professionals and collaborate with other departments to drive continuous improvement and maintain customer satisfaction, with overall responsibility for ensuring quality standards are met on every project and collaborating with others in making positive changes and Lexicon's visionary purpose. Quality Director Essential Duties and Responsibilities Quality Management System (QMS): Develop, implement, and maintain a robust QMS across all steel fabrication shops. Ensure compliance with AISC- Advanced Bridge, DOT, and/or other relevant standards and certifications. Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify areas for improvement. Leadership and Team Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of quality managers, supervisors, and inspectors. Foster a culture of quality awareness and continuous improvement within the organization. Provide training and resources to ensure the team is equipped with the latest quality control techniques, best practices, and industry knowledge. Process Improvement: Analyze production processes to identify inefficiencies and implement corrective actions. Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency and quality across all shops. Utilize Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies to enhance productivity and quality. Quality Assurance and Control: Oversee the inspection and testing of raw materials, in-process products, and finished members. Implement and manage corrective and preventive action (CAPA) processes to address quality issues. Ensure all quality control documentation is accurately maintained and accessible. Customer Satisfaction: Collaborate with the sales and customer service teams to address customer needs, concerns, and feedback. Monitor customer satisfaction metrics and implement strategies to improve overall customer experience. Conduct root cause analysis on customer complaints and implement corrective actions effectively. Regulatory Compliance: Stay current with industry regulations, standards, and best practices. Ensure all products and processes comply with applicable safety and regulatory requirements. Prepare and submit required documentation to customers and regulatory bodies as needed. Reporting and Analytics: Develop and maintain key quality metrics and performance indicators. Prepare and present regular reports on quality performance to senior management. Use data analytics to identify trends and areas for improvement. Quality Director Qualifications Bachelor's degree in engineering, quality management, or a related field, with consideration for qualification by experience commensurate for this position. Master's degree preferred. Minimum of 10 years of experience in quality management within the structural steel fabrication industry. Extensive knowledge of quality assurance methodologies, tools, and standards (e.g., ISO 9001, Lean, Six Sigma). Familiar with AISC, ASTM, AASHTO, AREMA, ASNT, ASME, AWS, RCSC, and SSPC code requirements. Must be experienced in NDE (non-destructive examinations) methods and practices. ASNT Level- III is preferred, but not necessary. Proven track record of leading and managing quality teams in a multi-site environment. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Certification in quality management (e.g., CQE, CQM, Six Sigma Black Belt) is highly desirable. Proficient in Microsoft Office and Excel. Physical Demands Requires occasional travel with overnight stays. Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, including exposure to loud noises, heavy machinery, and varying temperatures. It may also be required to travel to construction sites where steel erection occurs. This is a Safety Sensitive position requiring drug and alcohol testing.
